Saint-Gobain Abrasives - Eliminating Fall Risks

In a response to a fatality at one of their plants, as a result of a fall through a brittle surface, Saint-Gobain’s Campbellfield plant has been upgraded to eliminate fall risks.

The warehouse and factory has multiple roof sections, which are interspersed with alsynite to provide natural light.

The first part of the process was a height safety risk assessment and audit report, to identify the hazards associated with accessing the roof area, and working at heights.

Once the risks had been correctly identified, Workplace Access & Safety designed control measures that were suitable for the plant. The control measures were recommended in accordance with the hierarchy of controls, and were installed over a 3 week period.

Saint-Gobain’s is now safe places to work at heights for contractors and employees alike.
